Pangasinan jail guard in hot water
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – A provincial jail guard here is in hot water after he allegedly ordered an inmate to stab a fellow inmate in exchange for P25,000 last Thursday.
Deputy provincial jail warden Porferio Cruz told Bombo Radyo Dagupan that jail guard Marcelo Lopez allegedly ordered rape suspect Gilbert Diaz, 31, to stab Felipe Quillope, 53, who is accused of murder.
Quillope is a suspect in the killing of retired judge Corazon Merrera. It was the second time that Quillope was stabbed in the provincial jail; the first was last Oct. 12.
PO1 Rodolfo Naungayen, a police investigator, quoted Diaz as saying that Lopez promised to give him the money if he would stab Quillope.
