Ilocos exec convicted of graft out on bail

BACARRA, Ilocos Norte  ,Philippines – This town’s vice mayor, who was arrested last Wednesday following his graft conviction by the Sandiganbayan, returned home yesterday, saying he was reassuming his duties.

Vice Mayor Pacifico Velasco was allowed to post P70,000 bail pending resolution of his appeal before the Supreme Court.

He denied that he went into hiding, saying he just underwent medical treatment for diabetes.
