MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 2.7 earthquake rocked Baler, Aurora yesterday but did not cause damage or injury, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor struck at 7:30 a.m. and was centered some four kilometers southeast of Baler, where it was felt at Intensity 2.
Phivolcs said the quake had a depth of 20 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. Tectonic pertains to the movement of the earth's crust.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quake.
