Isabela school to offer medical course

- Raymund Catindig -

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines - It’s all systems go for the state-run Isabela State University (ISU) in Cauayan City, Isabela to open the first medical course in Cagayan Valley next year.

ISU president Romeo Quilang disclosed that the university’s Board of Regents has approved the medical course.

Quilang said the ISU would be accepting enrollees for pre-medicine courses for school year starting June 2012.

He said they expect the ongoing construction of the seven-story ISU building for the medical course, which has an initial capital outlay of P70 million, to be completed and equipped by the time the first batch of medicine students enter their course proper two years later.

Quilang said the ISU hopes to cater to aspiring doctors in the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Batanes, and the Cordillera provinces of Ifugao, Mt. Province, Kalinga, and Apayao.
