Former DAR chief suffers heart attack

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Joseph Estrada yesterday said former Agrarian Reform secretary Horacio “Boy” Morales suffered a heart attack on Thursday afternoon in Baguio City where he was playing in a golf tournament.

Estrada said Morales, who headed the Agrarian Reform department during his administration, remained unconscious at the Notre Dame de Chartes Hospital in Baguio.

Estrada said Morales, 68, suffered the heart attack on the last day of the 62nd Fil-Am golf invitational tournament held at the Baguio City Country Club.

“He underwent heart bypass in the past. He was first brought to the Baguio City General Hospital (and Medical Center) and later on was transferred to the Notre Dame de Chartes Hospital where he is still confined,” he said. – Jose Rodel Clapano, Artemio Dumlao
