Principal suspect in Rizal slays killed
MANILA, Philippines - The principal suspect in the killing of four law enforcers and a tabloid reporter in Rizal was gunned down in an alleged shootout with police in Taytay town yesterday.
Oliver Taib, 30, listed as the most wanted person in Rizal, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body. He died on the spot.
Senior Superintendent Manuel Prieto, Rizal provincial director, said Taib had seven standing arrest warrants for murder and drug pushing.
Prieto tagged Taib as the killer of PO3s Romeo Maglinao and Urbano Enero, both of the Regional Mobile Group; PO2 Hector Sabile, PO1 Virgilio de la Cruz, and Remate tabloid reporter Tiburcio Trajano.
The four policemen were conducting operations against illegal drugs in Lupang Arienda in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay town in separate occasions when they were shot dead by Taib and his companions. Trajano was covering one of the raids when caught in the crossfire.
