Canada gives P8 M for typhoon rehab efforts

MANILA, Philippines - Canada has contributed more than P8 million to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for more than 250,000 people in Luzon affected by the recent rash of typhoons.   

“Canadians are deeply concern aboutfor the people of the Philippines who are suffering the effects of typhoons ‘Nesat (Pedring)’ and ‘Nalgae (Quiel),’” said Canadian Ambassador Christopher Thornley. 

“We continue to monitor the situation to determine the victims’ needs related to the rehabilitation of their communities,” he said.

Through the Canadian International Development Agency, the Canadian government provided more than P6 million to the Philippine Red Cross Society for the food, water, sanitation and hygiene and shelter needs of 50,000 families in affected areas in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
