10 Cagayan Valley towns get DILG 'seal'
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Ten towns in Cagayan Valley have received P1 million each from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for their outstanding achievements in financial transparency and governance.
These towns, which received the cash incentives as part of the DILG’s Performance Challenge Fund program, are Cagayan’s Camalaniugan and Ballesteros towns; Isabela’s Benito Soliven, Burgos, Mallig, Quezon and San Manuel towns; and Nueva Vizcaya’s Ambaguio, Diadi and Quezon towns.
The recipient local government units (LGUs), previously accorded with the DILG’s Seal of Good Housekeeping, were able to meet all the criteria for transparency and governance of public funds.
The DILG said 24 other towns in the region are also being eyed for similar cash incentives, aimed at further encouraging LGUs to promote sound fiscal management as well as transparency and accountability in governance.
