BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) is infusing P400 million worth of scholarships for the training of about 65,000 prospective employees in the information technology – Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) industry.
These prospective IT-BPO employees are considered “near-hires,” or are applicants who have applied for jobs in the IT-BPO industry but fell short of the requirements, thus require more training to meet the industry standard, TESDA in a press statement said.
Member-associations of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines have pledged to absorb at least 70 percent of the scholars after finishing their course, it said.
