Ex-ARMM village chief held for illegal drugs

- Michael Punongbayan -

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency yesterday said a former village chief in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was arrested in North Cotabato last week for engaging in the illegal drug trade.

Anti-narcotics agents nabbed Abdullah Macarimbang, 49, who goes by the alias “Chairman,” after he sold P35,000 worth of shabu to undercover agents.

Macarimbang, former chairman of Barangay Pinantao in Parang, Maguindanao, was collared in a restaurant in Midsayap, North Cotabato after personally delivering two plastic sachets of shabu to the poseur buyers.
