P'sinan cop chief shot dead by brother

ALAMINOS CITY, Philippines – The police chief of Bayambang town in Pangasinan, to­gether with his wife, was gunned down by his own brother in a barangay hall here yesterday morning.

Superintendent Rollie Saltat, Alaminos police chief, identified the victims as Superintendent Lloyd Millan, 39, and his wife Cheryll, 34, residents of Barangay Bued here.

The couple went to the barangay hall of Pandan along with village chief Ricardo Legaspi to settle a dispute involving the Millan brothers’ salt farm.

The suspect, Lyndon Millan, 41, elder brother of the police official, was armed with an M-16 Armalite rifle and shot the couple when he arrived later in the barangay hall. Legaspi was unhurt.

The Millan couple was rushed to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital in this city but was declared dead on arrival.

The elder Millan escaped and is the subject of a police manhunt.

Prior to his assignment as Bayambang police chief, the younger Millan served as operations and plans chief of the provincial police in Lingayen town. – With Cecille Suerte Felipe
