Mindoro bishop cries arson

CALAPAN CITY ,Philippines  – A bishop blamed arson for the fire that gutted the Catholic-run radio station dzVT and the records section of the ecclesiastical finance office in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro last Wednesday.

Bishop Antonio Palang, head of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Jose that has jurisdiction on all Catholic facilities in the province, said the attack was timed when several members of the clergy were out of the province attending various events.

No one was injured in the fire which dzVT program manager Daisy Leaño said caused damage estimated at over P10 million.

The destroyed radio transmitter was built with donations from the Archdiocese of San Francisco and other foreign donors.
