MANILA, Philippines - A passing vessel reportedly rescued 43 passengers and crewmembers of a motorized boat that sank off Surigao del Norte last Tuesday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said yesterday.
In a statement, PCG spokesman Lt. Commander Algier Ricafrente said the 34.30-gross ton motorized boat MBCA Maricris was sailing near San Benito, Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte when it was battered by high waves, causing it to sink.
A passing vessel, MBCA Kimnet-I, rescued the boat’s 32 passengers and 11 crewmembers.
