LAGUNA, Philippines – The two survivors in the massacre in San Pablo City last Oct. 12 are under close watch by doctors and social workers as they are still in a state of shock, Laguna Gov. Jeorge Estregan Ejercito Jr. said yesterday.
Estregan told The STAR in a phone interview that Marjorie Rendon, 10, and her younger brother Jomari, 4, are now in the custody of the social welfare department at the provincial capitol in Sta. Cruz.
“The physicians are now conducting a psychological evaluation and they shall be given a stress debriefing once their condition improves,” he said.
Estregan said his wife, Pagsanjan Mayor Maita Ejercito, has assured the two children’s relatives that she would given them full scholarships.
Estregan and his wife gave P50,000 in financial assistance to the Rendon clan during a visit to the family residence in Barangay Sta. Felomina, San Pablo City last Saturday.
He said he has ordered Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, to launch a region-wide manhunt for the third suspect, Elmor Tambuong Jr.
He said he offered a P25,000 cash reward for the arrest of Tambuong, whose father Elmor Sr. and brother Ernie have been arrested and charged for the killing of the Rendon children’s parents and two siblings aged seven and two months.
Cruz said two tracker teams are now hunting down Tambuong Jr.
