Manobo leader shot dead in Surigao Sur
BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A Manobo tribal leader, who was a “block-timer” in two radio stations, was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men in Lianga, Surigao del Sur last Friday, police said.
Police said the victim, Roy Quijada Gallego, was cruising the national highway in Barangay Banahaw, Lianga town on his motorcycle when he shot repeatedly with a ca-liber .45 pistol.
Police were still investigating the killing of Gallego, who had commentary and public affairs programs in AM radio station dzJM in Butuan City and FM radio station dxSF in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
Gallego was the president of the Bayanihan Council of Datus in the Caraga region.
