Businesswoman kidnapped in Zamboanga del Sur
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur ,Philippines – At least seven heavily armed men, believed to be members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, kidnapped a businesswoman at Barangay Poblacion, Pitogo in this province Friday morning.
A police report received at Camp Abelon here by provincial police director Jose Bayani Gucela said the armed men, wearing camouflage uniform, seized Mona Liza Kapa after she had just opened her ice plant beside her grocery store.
The report said Kapa screamed for help but responding policemen were not able to get near her when the kidnappers fired warning shots.
The kidnappers who were armed with M-16 armalite rifles, sped towards Karomatan town in Lanao del Norte. Kapa’s family has not received any call from her kidnappers as of yesterday.
It can be recalled that it was also in Karomatan where Pagadian City businesswoman Helen Gomonit and her grandson, were seized by a group of armed men who barged into her house early this year.
Gomonit’s body was recovered in a shallow grave one week later after her family reportedly failed to give the ransom money asked by the kidnappers. Her grandson was released unharmed.
