Iloilo parish to host 1st Vatican int'l exhibit

MANILA, Philippines - A parish in the province of Iloilo will host the country’s first Vatican International Exhibit of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World with the hope of reviving the interests of the Filipino Catholics to attend mass.

The CBCPNews reported that the exhibit will begin on Nov. 7 until Dec. 3, at the Pacita Laguda Sia Community Center of the Immaculate Conception Parish at Ledesma street, Tanza, Iloilo City. 

Recent studies showed that only 68 percent of about 73.6 million Filipino Catholics attend mass regularly.

Parish priest Fr. Norberto Taccadao said they hope the exhibit will act as the “little candle” in a world darkened by indifference.

He said the parish also aims to educate parishioners and the general public on the importance of the Holy Eucharist as the center of Christian life and to highlight the mystery of the Holy Eucharist as Jesus Christ.

The “Eucharistic Miracles of the World” was compiled by Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old boy in Milan, Italy, whose Cause of Beatification has already been opened by the Diocese of Milan.

The compilation was first used in 2005 in the Vatican during the First Eucharistic Congress and has become what is now known as the Vatican International Exhibition of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World that is now touring many countries.

The CBCPNews said the Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit is an extensive assortment of photographs and historical descriptions, of the principal Eucharistic Miracles that took place throughout the ages in various countries of the world and which have been recognized by the Church.

The exhibit is presently being shown in Paray Le Monial, France, where Our Lord appeared to St. Mary Margaret Alacoque, for the First Sacred Heart World Congress from October 6-11, 2011.
