MALOLOS, Bulacan, Philippines – Several Armed Forces officials have been relieved from their posts as a result of the New People’s Army attacks in Surigao del Norte, an unsatisfied President Aquino said here yesterday.
“I was not happy with their (security forces’) performance in this particular incident,” he told reporters.
While Aquino did not mention failure of intelligence on the part of the military, Aquino said lingering questions regarding operational procedures still remain unanswered.
Aquino said he already ordered an augmentation of troops in Surigao del Norte, and that “corrective actions” are already being undertaken as a result of the attacks.
