'Give priority to Pampanga Bay desilting'
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – Gov. Lilia Pineda yesterday appealed to the Department of Public Works and Highways to give priority to the desilting of Pampanga Bay.
This, as several Pampanga villages remained flooded, touted to be the worst in decades, following the onslaught of typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel.”
Pineda said water from several rivers, including those in Aurora and Nueva Ejica, goes to Pampanga River before reaching Manila Bay.
“The high volume of water which is supposed to (go to) Pampanga Bay flows back to our towns as the bay is heavily silted. It looks like it (flooding) will stay for weeks and even months in other areas,” she said.
