2 die of food poisoning in Laguna
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A mother and her son died while two other family members got sick due to food poisoning in Barangay Tunhac, Famy, Laguna,Thursday morning, a police report said yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said the Marites Damasco Alisen, 46, and her three-year-old son Venice, suffered vomiting, dizziness and loose bowel movement after eating rice with pork nilaga. The two were rushed to General Cailes Memorial Hospital in Pakil, Laguna, but died while they were being treated.
Two other family members, Ron Pandino Baquiran, 24 and Marites’ daughter Berdanette, experienced the same symptoms but survived.
“We collected samples of the food that they ate for laboratory to determine the cause of the poisoning, “ Cruz said.
Police recovered an earthen pot which contains salt and suspected poisonous substances believed to be the cause of food poisoning.
