3 robbery suspects killed in Laguna

Camp Vicente Lim, LAGUNA ,Philippines  - Three robbery suspects were killed in a gunfight with the police in Pila and San Pablo City, police said.

Laguna police director, Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, said one of the slain suspects, Joel Canlas, 29, was tagged in the robbery of United People’s Rural Bank in San Pablo City.

Cruz said the first encounter took place early yesterday at the Tropical Park Subdivision in Barangay Concepcion, San Pablo City, when Canlas was flagged down in a checkpoint. Instead of stopping, Canlas pulled out his caliber .38 pistol and started shooting the authorities.

In Pila town, two suspected robbers riding in tandem on a motorcycle were also killed, when they shot it out with policemen who chased them.
