Kidnapped trader released

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY ,Philippines  – A businessman seized by five armed men wearing police uniforms inside his store was released Sunday evening, after six days in captivity.

Agricultural products dealer Manny Boniao was brought to his residence in Barangay Gusa in this city at around 7 p.m. by a still unidentified person, said Police Chief Insp. Reynante Reyes, chief of the PNP Regional Special Operations Group.

Police said Boniao, 60, is in good condition.

City Mayor Vicente Emano told local media that Boniao’s family paid “board and lodging” to the kidnappers but did not elaborate on the amount.
