Boy fatally beaten up by classmates laid to rest

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines  – A 10-year-old Grade 5 pupil who died after his classmates beat him up in their classroom here recently was buried yesterday morning, his grieving mother blaming school authorities for their neglect.

“Pabaya kasi ang school (The school has been neglectful),” said the boy’s grieving mother as she recalled how her son wanted to become a doctor. 

The boy was ganged up by his classmates and even reportedly stabbed with a ballpen during an altercation, causing his death.

School principal William Rivera, however, appealed to the public to avoid being judgmental.

The boy’s mother though bared plans to file cases against the three students behind her son’s death and the school authorities.

The city government is planning to conduct a deeper probe of the incident to prevent it from happening again.
