SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – Three persons were killed and 18 others were injured when a Saulog bus bound for Olongapo City swirled and then landed on its roof after hitting the rear of a trailer truck along the North Luzon Expressway at the boundary of Bocaue and Sta. Rita towns in Bulacan Saturday afternoon.
The Traffic Management Center (TMC) identified two of the fatalities as Candida Bondoc, 20, and Jenoshiva Medina, 32, who both died instantly.
The third unidentified fatality, a woman, died at the Bulacan Polymedic Hospital in Guiguinto town.
According to a TMC report, the Saulog bus swirled after its rear part was ripped off by the trailer truck, which was moving to the outer lane of the expressway amid a light drizzle.
The trailer did not sustain any major damage, but the passenger bus, after turning around, smashed into the concrete perimeter fence of the expressway before landing on its roof.
The truck driver suffered slight injuries, too.
