Kidnapped daughter of Palawan radioman rescued

-

MANILA, Philippines - Police are pursuing the kidnappers of a daughter of a Palawan-based radio commentator who was rescued by a joint police-military team nine hours after she was seized in front of her school last Thursday.

Rowena Paraan, executive coordinator of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, said the 17-year-old daughter of dyEZ broadcaster Louie Larroza was snatched before 10 a.m. Thursday in front of the Palawan State University where she is a Hotel and Restaurant Management student.

Paraan said the girl was having her report photocopied when unidentified men seized and forced her into a black van.

She was rescued at around 7 p.m. in a secluded portion of Manalo Street in the Puerto Princesa City proper.

In an interview with local reporters, Larroza said the kidnapping “could be a warning for me to stop my broadcasts.”
