Baler police chief sacked

BALER, Aurora, Philippines  – The police chief of this capital town has been relieved from his post over his alleged failure to solve the rash of robbery-holdups and thefts here.

Superintendent Benjamin Villasis was relieved the other day by Senior Superintendent Ervin Gumban, provincial police director, and was replaced by Chief Inspector Edgardo Togonon, formerly assigned at Camp Ravina.

Villasis’ relief came less than a month after Baler Mayor Arthur Angara criticized Gumban and Villasis over the failure of the local police to address the robberies.
