ANGELES CITY, Philippines – An envelope containing P180,000 in cash which fell from under a table at City Hall has been turned over to the city treasury as no one has surfaced to claim it.
“I think we have given the owner of that cash enough time to claim it. I even went on radio to announce the mysterious find but there was no one who surfaced to say it belonged to him or her,” Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan told reporters.
The brown envelope, apparently taped to the underside of a table in the office of the former city administrator, fell as workers were lifting the table to clean the room. When opened, it was found to contain P180,000 in cash.
“I have already turned over the cash to the city treasury to be used for our projects,” Pamintuan said.
A source at City Hall said the envelope contained computations, whose handwriting, according to employees, belongs to a former official during the term of former mayor Francis Nepomuceno.
