4.5 quake jolts parts of Visayas
MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 4.5 earthquake rocked some parts of the Visayas yesterday but there were no reports of damage or injuries, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the tremor struck at around 10:17 a.m. and was centered some 15 kilometers southeast of San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Valderrama, Antique; Intensity 3 in San Jose de Buenavista, Pandan, Hamtic, Barbaza, Sebaste, Sibalom, Culasi, and Libertad, all in Antique, and in Iloilo City.
It was also reportedly felt at Intensity 2 in Lezo, New Washington, Kalibo, Malay, all in Aklan; and in Bingawan, New Lucena, Oton, and Leon towns in Iloilo.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quake.
