LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Albay Gov. Joey Salceda yesterday ordered the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) to evacuate at least 15 families in Barangay Gabon, Polangui town after a landslide struck the village due to heavy rains Tuesday afternoon.
Although there were no reports of any casualties in Polangui, Salceda said landslides are still expected in some areas in Albay after typhoon “Juaning” dumped rains that reached 600 millimeters, more than what typhoon “Reming” had in November 2006.
The PDRRMC is also monitoring the volcanic debris remobilized in Barangay Maipon, Guinobatan town.
