Power outage hits Butuan City

- Ben Serrano -

BUTUAN CITY ,Philippines  – A power interruption for almost six hours affected nearly half of this city after a 26-year-old resident climbed a 50-foot main line electric post of Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative (ANECO) in Emenvil Subdivision, Barangay Ambago, Butuan City.

Frank Guijilde, ANECO spokesperson said they have to cut the power of the main line post because of the danger it may cause to Abel “Bem Bem” Millara, 26, resident of Sitio Balanghay, Barangay Libertad.

“ANECO electrical engineers wondered how Millara survived and did not get electrocuted because wires at the post has 16,000 kilowatt power supply that is enough to toast him,” Guijilde told The STAR in an interview.

Millara decided to come down the the high electric post after six hours.
