BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Were it not for a busted air-conditioning unit in the master’s bedroom, the mayor of Mallig, Isabela could be dead by now.
Mayor Pedro Flores escaped death when unidentified men fired at his house before dawn last Tuesday, targeting his room on the second floor.
Police said Flores and his wife had been sleeping for days in one of their children’s rooms on the first floor of their two-story house due to the busted air-conditioner in the master’s bedroom.
Flores said he felt “very lucky” and thankful that the “discomfort” of having a busted air-conditioner proved to be a blessing in disguise for him.
Chief Inspector Jaime Narne, Mallig police chief, said they have provided security personnel to Flores.
