DAVAO CITY ,Philippines – At least five people were killed and three others wounded when a midnight fire struck yesterday a boarding house in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
The fatalities were identified as Alfred Villaver, 17; Kate Roca, 19, a saleslady; Jessica Gomez; Maria Layne Siarot, 20, a mall cashier and her sister Liprem.
The wounded victims – Maximo Flores and his siblings John Carlo and Thelma were brought to the Sanitarium Hospital in Valencia City.
Bureau of Fire officials said the fire started at the exit gate of the Valencia city hall where the boarding house is located.
They said the victims, who were sleeping when the fire broke out could have died of suffocation.
The boarding house was said to be owned by one Boboy Flores while officials pegged the damage at P1 million.
