COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Police arrested in Kidapawan City yesterday a suspected member of the Al-Khobar extortion ring tagged in the July 2008 bombing of a bus terminal in Digos City.
Inspector Rolando Dillera, intelligence unit chief of the Kidapawan City police, said the suspect, Muhammid Nur, 22, did not resist arrest when he found out that policemen and civilian volunteers had surrounded his hideout in Nunangan district in Kidapawan City.
Dillera said they learned about Nur’s presence in the area from informants, among them Muslim religious leaders.
The Al-Khobar has been blamed for more than 30 bombings of buses and business establishments in Central Mindanao in the past three years.
