2 die in diving session

BATANGAS ,Philippines  – A businesswoman and her police diving partner died during a diving session at a resort in Mabini town Saturday afternoon, police said.

Chief Inspector Elpidio Duenas, Mabini police chief, identified the fatalities as Midori Abalos, 34, resident of BGH Compound, Baguio City and Police Officer 3 Zaldy Lamsis, 35, resident of Military Cut-Off Road, Baguio City, presently assigned at the Police Security and Protection Group.

According to reports, the victims and some other friends went to Planet Dive Resort in Sitio Balanoy, Barangay San Teodoro to scuba dive when they were swept by strong under current and drowned around 4:19 p.m.

Duenas said Abalos’ body was retrieved from the sea approximately 30-meters from the resort’s shoreline a few hours after the incident.

Lamsis’ body was recovered on Sunday morning on the shoreline of Barangay San Teodoro during a retrieval operation by the authorities.
