- Artemio Dumlao -

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines  — A former policeman tagged in the killing of an Ilocos Norte town mayor in 2004 was freed on bail last Monday.

Regional Trial Court Judge Benjamin Turgano ordered former police intelligence officer Apolonio Medrano freed from the Ilocos Norte provincial jail after posting P200,000 bail.

Medrano was accused of masterminding the killing of Mayor Rogelio Pambid of Marcos town in October 2004.

Medrano had been behind bars in Ilocos Norte since August 2010 after spending five years at the Manila City jail in connection with the 2004 killing of radio commentator Roger Mariano, for which he was acquitted.
