MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) has observed a downward trend in cholera cases in Bataraza town in Palawan, an official said yesterday.
Dr. Manuel Mapue, a medical specialist at the DOH’s National Epidemiology Center, said only one new case was recorded Monday.
At the peak of the outbreak last week, at least 30 cases were recorded in a day.
“It’s going down. We now see fewer cases these days,” he said.
At least 563 cholera cases, including 20 deaths, were reported in 17 Bataraza barangays, 63 percent of them in Barangay Culandanum.
