SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – A 30-minute hailstorm hit this landlocked Cagayan Valley province late Monday afternoon, causing minor damage to some houses and establishments here.
Accompanied by a howler and strong rain, the hailstorm, unusual in the province at this time of the year, was also reportedly experienced in other parts of the region.
The marble-sized hailstones, reports said, broke glass windows and sowed panic among residents.
Reports also said a number of residents sustained minor injuries from the hailstones.
The last hailstorm to hit the province and the rest of Cagayan Valley was in April 2009.
