MANILA, Philippines - Three men were buried alive in a landslide caused by heavy rains in a gold rush village in T’boli town, South Cotabato Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Benito Ramos, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, identified the fatalities as Melton Otero, 50; Christopher Lagumbay, 35; and Ruben Castro, 27.
Two others, Dusen Canson, 50, and Mackmack Tamanggong, 28, survived the landslide that struck Sitio Tunnel, Barangay Kimatu, T’boli town at around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
