Globe, Church-based group extend medical aid in Laguna

-

MANILA, Philippines - Leading telecommunications provider Globe Telecom has joined hands with KADAUPAN (Katarungan ng Diyos ang Ugat ng Payapang Adhikain), a Church-based organization, in providing health services to about 1,000 patients coming from poor barangays in Pakil, Laguna.

The two-day medical mission was part of KADAUPAN’s goal of promoting awareness and co-responsibility on the issues of “justice, peace, and care for creation.”

The team, composed of volunteer doctors, nurses and other medical practitioners from UP-Ugnayan ng Pahinungod and UST Medical Missions Inc., provided free medical check-up, dental service, and minor surgery.

Globe, on the other hand, donated medicine for cough and colds, headache and fever, hypertension, and bacterial infection, among others illnesses.

“Globe recognizes the need to help address medical problems in the Philippines so we are always open to partnerships with organizations which want to extend medical assistance to underprivileged members of our society. Hopefully, in our own little way, we could support such noble undertakings and be able to contribute to social development starting from the barangay level,” said Jeffrey Tarayao, Globe’s corporate social responsibility head.
