LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A transport strike yesterday paralyzed up to 90 percent of public transportation in the Bicol provinces of Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte, forcing both public and private schools to suspend classes while some government agencies provided free rides in some areas.
Condor-Piston Bicol spokesman Joel Ascutia said the strikers were demanding the scrapping of the oil deregulation law and removal of EVAT on petroleum products, among other things.
