Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna, Philippines – Three policemen were wounded in an ambush in Palawan province before noon Monday, a police official said.
Chief Superintendent Artemio Hicban, MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police director, said the victims were identified as PO3 Emily Valdez, PO2 Bechie Saliente, and PO3 Rufino Marquez, all members of the Mobile Patrol Unit 122 of Palawan police.
Senior Superintendent Rey Jagmis, Palawan police director, said elements of the New People’s Army were behind the attack.
Jagmis said the victims were on their way to El Nido to provide security to some visitors while celebrating its town fiesta, when they were ambushed at Sitio Cataban, Barangay Bagumbayan in Taytay town around 10:45 a.m.
