4 dead, 31 hurt in bus collision

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  - Four people, including a policeman, were killed while 31 others were injured when two passenger buses collided about 15 kilometers from the Matnog port in Sorsogon midnight Wednesday, police said.

Three of the four casualties were identified as Ritchie Liboon, 8, of Bago, Leyte; SPO4 Renante Parebego of Liloan, Southern Leyte; and Emilia Abueva of Eastern Samar.

Police said the injured passengers of the Eagle Star and PP buses were rushed to the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital and the Bicol Regional Training Hospital here.

Among those injured were five-month-old Angel Abalos and four-year-old John Mark Abalos, both from Panaon Island in Southern Leyte; three-year-old Recah Cruz Angelo of Tacloban City; four-year-old Jaypee Empiles; and 96-year-old Julieta Nazaret.
