LEGAZPI CITY ,Philippines – Two siblings died while being brought to a hospital on Saturday when an improvised bombed they mistook as a toy exploded in Sitio Tucao, Barangay Jima in San Miguel town, Catanduanes, a belated report reaching Camp General Ola here said yesterday.
San Miguel police chief James Ronatay identified the victims as Ramon Tevar, seven, and his younger brother Anthony, four, who died while en route to the town’s hospital due to fatal shrapnel wounds that hit them in different parts of the body.
Ronatay said they have yet to determine the type of bomb that exploded, adding that Jima is a farflung, rebel-infested village in San Miguel.
