Bulusan spews ash anew
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Sorsogon’s Bulusan volcano spewed ash again early yesterday morning after being silent since its seventh ash-driven explosion last Nov. 24.
Crispulo Diolata, head of the Bulusan monitoring station in Barangay Cabid-an, Sorsogon City, said the new ash-driven explosion occurred at the summit crater of the volcano at around 2:58 a.m. yesterday.
Diolata said the explosion was accompanied by a rumbling sound which was heard as far as Barangay Monbon near the slopes of the volcano in Irosin town.
He, however, said the explosion was not observed because of thick clouds covering the summit of the 1,565-meter volcano.
Traces of ash deposits were later found in Barangay Monbon on the volcano’s southeast sector.
