Comelec report on delay of barangay, SK polls out today
MANILA, Philippines - The fact-finding panel created the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to investigate the delays in last year’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls may submit today its report.
In an interview, Comelec Commissioner and panel head Armando Velasco said they were already in the process of wrapping up the reports.
Velasco said the panel had waited for the “observation report” of Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting chair Henrietta de Villa, among other observers from outside the Comelec, that would be consolidated in the report.
“We have to consolidate their reports. They were included in the panel but they did not have voting rights,” he said.
The panel was formed to look into the delays in the delivery of election paraphernalia in more than 2,000 barangays across the country during the synchronized polls.
The investigation covered the bidding, printing, packing and shipping aspects of the elections.
The panel was initially given 15 days to come up with reports but it asked for extension.
According to Velasco, the panel needed more time because of the voluminous documents and other records that they had to evaluate.
