3 Davao kids die of measles
DAVAO CITY, Philippines – At least three children were reported to have died of measles in an epidemic in Kapalong and Talaingod towns populated by indigenous groups in Davao del Norte.
Salvador Estrera, assistant regional director of the Department of Health, said his office still has to verify reports from the field on the measles epidemic.
In Talaingod town, at least 30 villagers have reportedly sought treatment in a local hospital. Reports said continuous rains have hampered medical teams from reaching far-flung communities in Talaingod, where mostly Ata-Manobo tribal folk reside.
