CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines – Two members of the dreaded Gagamboy gang engaged in a string of carjacking and robbery across Region 4A were arrested in a police dragnet operation in Cavite, Senior Superintendent Edwin Jose Nemenzo, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A director, said yesterday.
Nemenzo said the suspects, Rodante Timbang, suspected gang leader, and his cohort Rogelio Camañag, both residents of Cavite, were charged with carjacking and theft.
Two other gang members eluded arrest during the entrapment operation yesterday in Barangay San Agustin 1, Dasmariñas, Cavite. They are now hunted by CIDG-4A operatives.
Nemenzo said the gang was tagged as behind the series of carnapping of motorcycles and cars from unwary victims and also the culprits in the stealing of manhole covers and telephone cable wires owned by Globe Telecoms.
He said the modus operandi of the gang is to steal a vehicle particularly a motorcycle after which the suspects demand a huge amount of cash from the victims in exchange for the return of their vehicles.
