BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – This year, this vacation capital’s “signature December chill” came more than three weeks late.
Last year, city folk experienced the morning temperature dipping to 11 degrees Celsius as early as Dec. 4. This year, it came only yesterday, with 12.2 degrees – and this could further dip to 9 degrees in January or February, weather specialists said.
Temperature began dipping on Christmas Eve with 12.8 degrees, attributed to the cold Siberian winds and the southeast monsoon.
In 2009, Baguio experienced its lowest temperature of 10.5 degrees on Jan. 13.
