CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A robber gunned down two bank executives in Rizal, Nueva Ecija Thursday afternoon, and carted away a bag containing documents, not the money he thought the victims had withdrawn from another bank.
Senior Superintendent Robert Aliggayu, Nueva Ecija police director, identified the victims as Erick Liwag, 38, and Marvin Valmadrid, bank manager and appraiser, respectively, of the Cabanatuan City Rural Bank branch in Rizal town.
Aliggayu said the victims were cruising Barangay Calaocan when a man fired at their car repeatedly, killing them on the spot.
The gunman then took a black bag from the victims’ car and boarded a motorcycle parked meters away from the crime scene.
The bag, however, only contained documents belonging to Valmadrid, as Liwag had left the P300,000 he withdrew from a bank in Cabanatuan City in the morning to an employee of his rural bank before he left for Bongabon town.
Police recovered 21 spent 9-mm shells at the crime scene.
