DAR legal officer killed
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A legal officer of the Department of Agrarian Reform regional office here was killed Monday night in front of his daughter near their house in Barangay Guiwan, this city, according to police.
Police Superintendent Albert Larubis, police Station 6 commander, the victim, identified as Arnel Wahab, 41, legal officer of DAR 9 based in Lantawan, Barangay Pasonanca, absorbed 17 stab wounds in different parts of his body that caused his death.
Larubis said investigation showed that the victim, together with his young daughter, were driving home on board their van and upon reaching a vacant lot near their house, at Perez Drive, the unidentified suspect suddenly appeared and stabbed him repeatedly.
The victim’s house helper managed to secure Wahab’s daughter and ran inside their house during the incident before the suspect escaped toward unknown direction.
Police probers are looking on different angles as to the motive of the killing of Wahab, whom the neighbors described to be a well-mannered man and had not been in conflict with anybody in their community.
Wahab’s co-workers at DAR, who were shocked from the incident, also described the victim as a good person.
Larubis said police forces have been thoroughly investigating the case to determine the motive and identify Wahab’s killer.
